Work at Height Solutions for Data Centers

Passive and Active Fall Protection Equipment and Work Restraint Solutions for Bitcoin Mining and Data Centers

Fall Protection Solutions for Data Centers

Data centers are challenging because they contain sensitive equipment, require a specific temperature range, and generate high levels of heat. Air-handling systems like CRAC and CRAH units require water-chilling plant rooms and chains of rooftop cooling towers.

Properly laying out data center rooftop systems is critical for safe maintenance routines. Lighthouse Safety provides passive, active, and restraint work-at-height solutions to ensure safety and compliance for some of the largest Bitcoin mining, edge, and hyper-scale data facilities in the nation.

Inspections & User Training
According to the safety regulations by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and best practices of American National Standards Institute (ANSI), employers must implement appropriate fall protection measures if they require workers to work above 4’ in General Industry or 6’ in Construction. Fall hazard analysis by professionals can help manufacturers comply with these safety regulations and avoid penalties.

Other than "The Four Foot Rule" here are general OSHA guidelines:

• Guard every floor hole into which a worker can accidentally walk (using a railing and toe-board or a floor hole cover).
• Provide a guard rail and toe-board around every elevated open sided platform, floor or runway.
• Regardless of height, if a worker can fall into or onto dangerous machines or equipment (such as a vat of acid or a conveyor belt) employers must provide guardrails and toe-boards to prevent workers from falling and getting injured.
• Other means of fall protection that may be required on certain jobs include safety harness and line, safety nets, stair railings and hand rails.

4 Rooftop Guardrail Systems For Better Protection

December 28, 2023
The rooftops of industrial and commercial structures present a unique set of challenges when it comes to workplace safety. Startlingly, according to recent statistics, rooftop falls account for one-third of all workplace fall incidents, making rooftop safety a matter of chief concern...
Even the best work-at-height solutions are of little value if they aren't properly understood or maintained. Which is why regular and systematic user training and systems inspections are an important aspect of a comprehensive safety program. Lighthouse backs up every engineered solution installation with specialized training and inspection plans to help keep people safe and ensure solutions are always in good working order.
